Description

Atwood 91602MC Aftermarket RV Pilot Water Heater Gas Control Valve
The Unitrol 91602 RV Water Heater Gas Control Valve serves as a multifunctional unit crucial to the operation of your gas-powered water heater. Equipped with a control knob at the top, this valve provides the user with the ability to light the pilot flame, set the desired water temperature, and shut off the appliance when necessary. Internally, the valve incorporates a temperature-sensing probe that is immersed in the tank water to monitor thermal levels. Additionally, the valve features a high-temperature energy cut-off (ECO), a safety mechanism that interrupts the gas flow to the main burners by breaking the circuit created by the thermocouple if water temperature surpasses a predetermined safe limit.
Replacement for Atwood Gas Valve
The MC Enterprise Unitrol Valve serves as an effective replacement for the original gas control valve, which is no longer in production by the manufacturer. Designed for versatility, the valve comes with both 45° and 90° inlet fittings, making it compatible with a range of Atwood water heater models. Although the appearance of the MC Enterprise Unitrol Valve may differ from that of the original valve, its operational functionality is consistent, offering a reliable and efficient alternative.
Installation
Before starting the installation, ensure the gas supply is shut off as a safety precaution. Wearing protective gloves is recommended during the installation procedure. Utilize either an adjustable wrench or a pipe wrench, cautiously detach the original gas control valve from the water heater tank. Retaining the original outlet fitting is crucial, as it will be used with the new valve. Following the removal of the old valve, proceed to attach the new valve's 45° or 90° inlet fitting as well as the original outlet fitting. Complete the installation by connecting the propane line, thermocouple, and burner tube to the newly installed valve.
Operation
Begin by setting the temperature dial to its lowest setting. Then, turn the gas cock dial counterclockwise to the “PILOT” position. Position a lighter at the pilot burner. Press and hold the reset button (red button) down fully while lighting the pilot. Continue holding the reset button for about one minute after the pilot is lit. Then, release the reset button and it should pop back up, ensuring that the pilot remains lit. If the pilot goes out, you should repeat the initial steps. If the reset button does not pop up when released, or if the pilot will not stay lit after several attempts, turn the gas control knob to “OFF” for safety. Once the pilot is lit and stable, turn the gas control knob counterclockwise to the “ON” position. Finally, adjust the water temperature dial to your desired setting. Remember to always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines for optimal operation and safety of your water heater.

Would recommend to anyone needing to replace their gas valve on their Atwood mid '90s RV. Also thank you to Panther RV to shipping to Canada! Not many suppliers had this option! Will use again if needed!

Excellent. Fast ship. You may need a 3/8 to 1/4" NPT reducer bush for the gas inlet.

Not a scam, good price and as close a direct replacement as you can get, minor tweaks (bent gas line, but 3/8 to 1/2 coupler )to install.
