Dometic Furnace exterior door for Atwood furnace

Posted by Paul Gawry on Sep 27th 2024

So I did not give it 5 stars, not b/c of the product itself, but moreso b/c #1 Dometic doesn't provide mounting instructions when replacing it on the ATWOOD furnace model, in particular the mounting bezel. The Dometic bezel, which has an offset divider (that the Atwood lacks) is mounted in reverse vs the way the Atwood bezel is mounted. This is rather confusing at first and I was tempted to cut the divider off the bezel, b/c I could not find an "original" Atwood door kit. Once you realize it is reversed, it fits fine. #2. the exhaust port is slightly smaller and off-set compared with the Atwood, which required me to drill new mounting holes. #3. It would be nice if they provided new mounting screws, as I am finding it impossible to find similar screws that are rust/corrosion resistant. The old ones were okay and I used them but would have preferred to replace with new ones. Now, all that being said, I do consider it to be superior to the original in fit once in place due to the improved gasket on the door itself and the divider in the bezel. It seals tighter against the RV wall and I think this will solve a problem we were having with the furnace shorting out during heavy rains, as the circuit board would get wet due to excess moisture in the air. We shall see.
