Description

NBK 20835 (520814) Suburban Water Heater Igniter Control Board - 12V DC
This direct spark ignition (DSI) water heater control board is designed to manage and regulate the heating process within a Suburban RV water heater. It serves as the central processing unit, orchestrating the sequence of operations necessary for the efficient production of hot water. This includes monitoring water temperature, controlling the gas flow, and managing the ignition process. The control board is equipped with sensors and circuitry that enable it to make real-time decisions for initiating the heating cycle, ensuring safety, and optimizing fuel consumption. Its primary goal is to provide a seamless operation that maintains the desired water temperature, while incorporating safety features to prevent overheating and potential damage to the system.
IGNITER
Upon a demand for hot water, the control board activates the ignition sequence. This involves sending a signal to the electrode, which then produces a high-voltage spark. This spark is essential for igniting the gas in the burner assembly, creating the flame that heats the water. The electrode not only initiates the ignition but also plays a role in detecting the presence of the flame. If the flame is not detected, the control board will attempt to reignite the flame by repeating the ignition sequence. This safety feature ensures that gas is not wasted and minimizes the risk of gas accumulation, enhancing the system's efficiency and safety.
GAS VALVE CONTROL
In addition to managing the ignition process, the control board's connection to the gas valve regulates the opening and closing of the gas valve based on the system's operational status and the need for heat. When the water temperature drops below the set point, the control board signals the gas valve to open, allowing gas to flow to the burner where it can be ignited. Conversely, once the desired temperature is reached, the control board instructs the gas valve to close, halting the flow of gas and thereby extinguishing the flame. This regulation of the gas valve not only ensures efficient fuel use but also plays a crucial role in the safety of the system, preventing gas leaks and reducing the risk of fire.

Suburban Water Heaters with Serial Numbers After 953900766: SW4D, SW4DE, SW4DEL, SW6D, SW6DE, SW6DEC, SW6DEL, SW6DELC, SW6DEM, SW6DM, SW10D, SW10DE, SW10DEC, SW10DEL, SW10DELC, SW10DEM, SW10DM, SW12D, SW12DE, SW12DEC, SW12DEL, SW12DELC, SW12DEM, SW16D, SW16DE, SW16DEC, SW16DEL, SW16DELC, SW16DEM

All Suburban Serial Numbers manufactured after January 1990, will be nine digits. The first two (2) digits signify the year of manufacture. The next set of digits, indicate the week of the year and the remaining digits are serial numbers. For Example: Even though numerically higher, 912000060 (year 1991) is lower than serial number 014103973 (year 2001) due to the year of manufacture.
