Dometic™ 441003AXX1 CoolCat RV Under Bench Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump

The unit itself seems to work well. Despite Dometic's lack of technical support/help when asked what is the static pressure of the unit. We ran it into a ducted application in a municiple vehicle, which worked well. The cardboard surrounding the unit should have been metal, but that is the only thing that seems "cheap" about it.

The folks at Panther are great, but getting support from Dometic is challenging. I've had a cool cat installed in a cabinet in my rv, but have only used it about 10 hours. In that time, it has leaked water and had to be removed. After removing, I bench tested the unit and found that the design of the fan and shroud exhausting air out the condenser (back) creates cavitation and bubbles in the water (of about 1/8th") and before the water is high enough to drain out the provided holes. This causes splashing of water against one side of the inside portion of the cover; then running down the cover and between the cover and the drip pan - leaking outside the unit and on the floor. Dometic technician says it's an installation issue, or that it could be an incorrect fan speed. I believe it's a poor design issue. Because it's out of warranty, my fix has been to remove the cover and lay a bead of silicone between part of the frame, drip pan and the outer cover; sealing the cover to allow the water to drip back down into the pan.

We bought this unit to replace the old R22 Dometic Heat Pump. It was packaged extremely well and was almost a direct bolt in swap. Just a few modifications needed with the digital thermostat requirement. External dimensions were the same as the old R22 unit. Highly recommended swap...
